Two discoveries with the new EP : first the young label based in Montreal Edit Recordings and then the Canadian producer Philippe Babin aka Preach. This time, it's not about minimal house or minimal techno like other artists coming from the North American Continent. No it's simply pure techno dedicated to the dancefloors. And the two first tracks are really successful (especially B1) : pumpin' rhythm, heavy bass, percussions and above all some dark strings that make the whole very hypnotising. On the A side, he's working with his Scottish friends Reiff & Lieten to bring two minimal house tracks that come with discreet vocal samples : "Get it right" and the really nice "The Dream". On the B Side, he's alone and gives the brilliant "Lickashot" on which the use of short samples could remember Akufen' style. The second release of the young French label based in Paris is done by one of its founder : Aysam. This DJ and producer was influenced by raw techno sound like Neil Landstrumm, Cristian Vogel or Tobias Schmidt and this is what we can find in this EP ! The style of the four titles is mainly minimal, the basses are really creaking and the other sounds are both short and distorted. But all tracks keep very funky and groovy. A brilliant release that - we hope - will be followed by many more... Check it on expressillon website !
