V/A - club and home entertainment - Morris / Audio 11

After 10 EP's, Morris / Audio publishes its very first compilation. Inside the lovely sleeve, almost all the 8 artists already appeared on the Swiss label and bring various facets of house music : hypnotising ("Torn Curtain" - Dub Taylor), minimal ("Gimmick" - Jackmate / "Something" - Dialogue), deep ("Summer Nights" - Tom Clark), oldschool... read more

Nico Awtsventin - Images EP - Superbra 17

Vince Watson for the first time on Superbra with his interpretation of tech house. Three deep, organic, driving tracks showing Detroit techno influence with dreamy pads & strings, piano chords & funky basslines. B1 track is a groovy & kicking Soul Mate's 'Stripped Down' remix. Great stuff on Box Blaze's label. Check out the next release 'New Way' with Spanish Bando.

The resident she DJ of the Rex Club and Pulp (Paris) left the turntables and selected on this CD various bombs coming from some of the best current labels : Int. Deejay Gigolo, Kompakt, Bpitch Control, Klang, WMF, Nuphonic, Intuit Solar or Clone Music to name a... read more

Rough, inventive, minimal, dancefloor, releases from this brilliant label have everything to suit you! Ulysses - Aviator sunglasses EP - Lasergun 15

One more time, Savas Pascalidis welcomes on its label a producer based in New-York : Elliot Taub. The whole record sounds like German 'retro' techno and remembers of course the Gigolo' style but the tracks are maybe a little bit more monotonous that the ones coming from DJ Hell's label. Two cuts especially caught our attention : the funky & sexy "No one is my baby" and "Connie's groove", a lovely quiet & melancholic tune that could have been written by Christian Morgenstern.

Netzwerk Florida - Earth.Wind.Fire/ - Monotone 02

For sure a future classic ! Produced by German Anthony Rother (Psi49net) and US artist Larry McCormick (Monotone), Netzwerk Florida duo goes on with its electro funk exploration after a highly acclaimed first release early this year on Psi49net. The dream team strikes back this time on Exzakt's label with "Earth.Wind.Fire/", a deep and synthetic masterpiece showing a perfect use of 808 but also scratch elements and Joyce sexy vocals. On the flip, instrumental and a cappella versions end this release with beautiful design. Do we need to remind you Earth.Wind.Fire is essential ?

V.A. - Deck Shark Series vol. 4 - Speaker Attack 18

New & versatile package from a well known Swiss label including players from Europe, US and Japan. It starts off with Soul Mate's incredible 'Gambling', tribal tech house mixture worth of Deetron's reputation. Next Level - From Heaven To Hell - Peon Music 01

Minimal sounds and tribal rhythms, here are musical components of newcomer Peon! Launched in Frankfurt by Oliver Schump, this Defcon Records subdivision welcomes for its first release Tinnitus manager Marc Göttling. Under "Next Level" alias, both artists offer a dancefloor four cuts EP in a clubby techno style. Unfortunately cheesy A-side is not enough interesting to be reviewed but no doubt efficient "Maniac" and intensive "Killer" on the reverse will be used and played on underground techno mixes.

The Bombdogs & Krude - Cancel The Apocalypse - SMB 09

A new exemplary production on this growing London based structure that follows the way of Control Tower and Audio Illusion. And for good reason: these three neighboring houses are use to share regularly their artists. Extra Productionen - Südgitschin sound - Freizeit 07

The first EP for those three Berlin producers : Thomas Sabrowsky, Sebastien Maschat and Daniel Nentwig. "voliere" - the long player - is an interesting mix-up of German house and jazzy Rhodes synth. On the flip side, "the mother ship" runs a minimalistic deephouse covered with a sweet folk song, an incredible crossover, the unhoped-for encounter of Herbert and Kings of convenience ! TIP of the week.

Chronic Twins - Collecting Nerve - Decomplex Audio 16

Katz, two UK artists regularly appealed on such labels as Construct Rhythm, Form and Jerk, this second release under Chronic Twins alias offers three... read more
