"Chercher le garçon, trouver son nom...". Remember those lyrics and easy rhythm in the early 80's. Mostly influenced by Soft Cell, Neu or Visage's New-Wave, the Kitbuilders, a mixed duo from Cologne, prolong our nostalgic mood in a very brilliant opus. Perfect mixture of sung electro ("Going out", "Disease" or "Sportscar") and Punkrock energy ("Get out"), Benway and Ripley's first album to date gathers together unreleased tracks and tunes that already appeared on Electrecord, Ersatz Audio, World Electric or Vertical, their own label. Dancefloor or home listening, "Wake Up" shows a wish to confuse our electronic marks, in a party spirit. A good job with analogic sounds on relaxing "Walls" or sci-fi "Dropping", and a great melancholic atmosphere on "Slyder". Remixed by Adult., Bolz Bolz and recently Christian Morgenstern, music from the German duo offers a new vision of retro futuristic electro possibilities. The Kitbuilders deserve their success !!! www.worldelectric.de Nexus 6, 31/05/2001
