Daniel Bell - The button-down mind strikes back - Logistic 28
This compilation recently published by French label Logistic Records seems to get a strong positive feedback from the press and we have to say that it's not surprising at all! Indeed, the legendary American producer Daniel Bell aka DBX (author of the 1994 hit "losing control") shows with an amazing talent how a minimal techno / house mix can be... read more Ludo, 19/03/2003

Andreas Kremer - A Dj Is Not A Popstar - Lifeform 07
Don't trust the funny title, this seventh Lifeform production from prolific Andreas Kremer is a serious dancefloor piece that delivers lots of minimal and distorted sounds. On A side, percussive "WG Der Wollust" offers a dangerous hammering of stinging drums, enhanced by a dark and ultra saturated rhythm. On the flip, more clubby hit "Bitches"... read more Nexus 6, 14/03/2003

Nicolas Courtin - Asteroides - Erkrankung Durch Musique 1010
The German imprint with its nearly unpronounceable name welcomes the French producer Nicolas Courtin who delivers here a debut EP definitely original. As often on EDM, the sound is mostly 80's and furthermore very computer-sounds oriented (yeah!!)... But Nicolas Courtin also succeed to add a very personal touch using for example housy chords on "E... read more Ludo, 07/03/2003

Invexis - Erdbeerinsel - Kazumi 38
Coveted by Salpeter, reliable value from Kazumi camp delivers today a four cuts EP extremely different from its previous productions. Less focused on hard and dirty beats, Georg Köhler offers techno indeed tech-house digressions in particular with "Edbeerinsel", "Sektor Y21" and "Mono Mode". If rhythm keeps an elevated level, German artist shows a large panel of its musical potential without renouncing to its first hard techno passion, monstrous and ravaging hit "Secret Fantasy" staying here to remind us that Invexis with only one cut is able to spread chaos on every dancefloor. www.pornostarmusic.com Nexus 6, 06/03/2003

Da Fresh - Da Specialist EP - Zebra.3 06
After various EP's and his "Supa feeling" album released on Weaked, the French producer Da Fresh appears for the first time on Zebra.3 Recording label with this "Da Specialist EP" absolutely dedicated to the dancefloor. The style of the three tracks is somewhere between house and techno. "Sexual thoughts" is, as you probably guessed, especially sexy. "Night life" uses strong dark sounds whereas "Dope me" is more pumpin' and funky. Every track makes use of longs breaks and guarantees consequently great impact on the crowd! www.zebra3recording.com Ludo, 05/03/2003

David Lazzari - DIP 005 | |
Back on his own label after first two releases, this time with a completely different attitude. Soft, filtered synth chords are dominant, but the rhythm is still the same - rolling percussions with a pounding kick drum. Four tracks with a fairly good arrangement show a deeper and more musical approach to the music. Ideal for early morning hours. Fat Phaze - Mateo / It's magic - Sismic 02
On this second release of the French imprint Sismic Records can be found three titles strongly influenced by the 80's. Two of these tracks are done by the Parisian duo Fat Phaze. The A Side is composed of the superb "Mateo" where housy pumpin' rhythm is combined with a deep & melancholic atmosphere. Excellent. The B side is dedicated to "It's... read more Ludo, 03/03/2003

V/A - 2:rec 01 | |
2:records is a French label specialised in minimal techno that has just been launched by Jennifer. This first release gather three unknown artists until now. The longplayer "never come" is done by Krilo and remembers the sound of German labels like Sub Static or Sender with probably a darker side. The sound quality is really good so we could expect other nice tracks from this new French producer. The B side keeps this dark atmosphere with at first Lady Flint who has a similar style ("Spartacus") and then with Voxel who has chosen an electro direction ("howl").
