Chaotic State - Gamma Quadrant - Touch' in Bass 02
This second release on lovely UK Andrea Parker's young label has many surprises in store for you. Unknown until today, mysterious duo Chaotic State arrives just when needed to deliver a high quality four tracks EP of pure funky electro bass. Fully equiped with nine (!!!) successful loops, "Gamma Quadrant" sets up a futuristic décor where disturbing sounds and powerful rhythms combine. Except booty "Cubic Rube" on b-side, "Headlock", "Bonus Beat" and "Threat Con Delta" (remixed by Dj Panic) offer fearsome and dancefloor structure compatible with Dynamix II and Bass Junkie stuff. Remarkable! Nexus 6, 10/07/2002

Hakan Lidbo - Sexy Robot - Lasergun 16
After 15 EP's, Lasergun is now publishing its first 2x12" done by Hakan Lidbo. Some of you may be surprised to find this famous producer on the German label because he is best known for his numerous minimal house & techno releases (more than an hundred !). But his appearance on Lasergun can be easily explained : he's just went back into the 80's !... read more Ludo, 09/07/2002

Anthony Rother - Die Macht - Psi49net 20
To be stunned before such savoir-faire! After a poppy period, particularly on its last album, undisputed German electro master revives his debut style : a deep and melodic music with native spoken lyrics plus futuristic sounds. Dark and hypnotic on "Die Macht", followed by its brilliant "Smith & Bell Remix", Anthony shows once again immensity of... read more Nexus 6, 08/07/2002

Los Hermanos - Birth of 3000 - LH 1 (Underground Resistance)
Hard to make a following of the legendary "Jaguar". Fortunately R. Rocha aka DJ Rolando has skills and doesn't do a remake. "Birth of spring" is pure Detroit sound, the constant dilemma between percussive techno and synthetic sadness. On the flip side "Son dos" goes straight on with deep chord like Aril Brikha (inspired by Maurizio, himself inspired by... stop !). So an excellent 12" on a mystic label, a must to have ! www.undergroundresistance.com www.submerge.com Chaton, 05/07/2002

Andreas Kremer - The Balance Of Force - Lifeform 02
This 12'' is better than the first one that just shows you! Second release on Lifeform Recordings, the techno label recently launched by Andreas, "Balance Of Force" contains three redoubtable tracks. Never uninspired, German artist opens hostilities with "Best Friend", a unique longplayer in a old school techno spirit that sends us back into early 90's. On the reverse, groovy minimal "Tragarm" and experimental hard techno "Kaveldun" add a little twist to the whole and complete this essential EP brilliantly. Great job! www.lifeformrecordings.de www.geheimniskremer.de Nexus 6, 03/07/2002

Les Composants - Leitmotiv 08
Following their track on the first Cosmetic Music release, Les Composants are back on another label based in Paris : Stephanovitch's one. On the first side, "Computer Revenge" combines most of the elements found into the hardcore hits of the early 90's : distorted kick, dark strings, aggressive synth sounds and TB-303 bassline. But the BPM stay... read more Ludo, 01/07/2002

Mikael Persson - Same Thing But Different - GFR1207
Mikael is back with a killer record! The music on this one is different from his previous stuff, but still contains the same rhythmic & funky components we can find in his techno releases. The top pick is certainly the A1 track, percussive tech house bomb with all the right ingredients - nicely mixed chords & male vocals. Possibly the best Mikael's production in last two years. Three very usable and highly playable tech house tracks and an incredible driving killer remix done by Samuel L Session on B-side. Top pack from well known Swedish label - NOT to miss! www.backbone-digital.com Lesha, 28/06/2002

Well this is it and official : long awaited Freddy's album is expected to be released in September on US label Millenium! "Watch This Sound" will come with all past electro works from this Minneapolis based B-boy and might feature some tracks taken from EMF 2.0 second release "Feel The Groove". With incredible electro flair, the man with... read more Nexus 6, 27/06/2002

DJ Sid y Fabio - Cristal-Triathlon - Mental Groove 25
Following their previous collaboration "platino", DJ Sid and Fabio are back on Mental Groove with this latino house EP. "Cristal" starts with a beautiful, funky & melodic tune including some vocal samples in Spanish. Then, there are two efficient loops sounding a little oldschool thanks to the use of a piano. On the other side, piano is still here especially on a track that should satisfy all salsa lovers. We are not really fond of this style but we must admit that this record is perfectly produced and quite original. You can listen to a realaudio sample on Mental Groove web site. www.mentalgroove.ch Ludo, 26/06/2002

Andreas Kremer - The Rise Of The Machines - Kazumi 31
Andreas Kremer increases in number releases for our pleasure ! Filled with enthusiasm by the success of Lifeform first 12'', the German producer joins Kazumi Records once again to deliver four evil dancefloor cuts. Tribal on "New Bangkok" and "Mirnixdirnix", Monheim artist redefines orgasmic techno on hot "The Simple" before he concludes with hypnotic and minimal "Bewegte Töne". Less harder than its last productions, this 12'' is nevertheless excellent ! www.pornostarmusic.com www.geheimniskremer.de Nexus 6, 25/06/2002

Jake Fairley - Crisis - Sender 015
Jake Fairley is back on the German label Sender Records for our pleasure. Following his two previous EP's, he brings now his first album entitled "Crisis" and shows his own vision of minimal house & techno. Although he made some quiet tracks ("street duck", "the commuter") or ambient / experimental ones ("d-days" - cd only, "intersteer"), Jake... read more Ludo, 24/06/2002

Blackmass Plastics - Datalife 01 - Thorn Industries 01
Few information about this young structure except that Thorn Industries comes from the Dead Silence camp, which already accommodates SMB and Audio Illusion labels. As usual, music is both electro ("The Specifics", "The Voice Of An Angel") and breakbeat but this time Blackmass Plastics explores lands a bit more experimental. Untimely use of oppressive strings adds the whole EP a dark and industrial atmosphere. A very good release !!! www.deadsilence.co.uk Nexus 6, 20/06/2002
