les deux d’electrique

fashion radio is not only about the music, but also about cutting edge fashion talents. special guests are belgian goose (radio soulwax) and mr.& mrs. cameron (amsterdam/berlijn). kid goesting and residents les deux d’electrique complete the line up.

belgian band goose just released ‘bring it on’ and is currently touring all over the uk, belgium and the netherlands. the band was founded in 2000, to survive their ‘school leavers’ malaise’. they started out as an ac/dc cover band with a lot of gituar solos. during their first visit to a studio they fell in love with an old synth, the siel orchestra 2.
a year later they recorded their debut single ‘audience’ with producer teo miller (placebo – nancy boy). their next album ‘good times’, were in the belgian hit charts for 10 weeks. they really had their break through when coca cola used their ‘audience’ for their european tv commercials.

mr. & mrs. cameron are household names in the music industry. mr. cameron formed a successful duo with arling. his music has been featured in television shows and commercials. even though they have been working together for many years, the duo us calling themselves mr. & mrs. cameron since 2000. they spin their sets all over the world. their style is hard to define, but the only constant is that they create a warm and friendly atmosphere that is neither serious nor camp.

* alex k (organ’x - paris)
* trendkat (oblik - perpignan)
* miloch (teckmics - avignon)
* yan x (sweetpeak - paris)

special guest to be announced
genre: bigband meets beats

the konrad koselleck big band was founded by pianist, composer and conductor konrad koselleck. its members include highly talented jazz musicians from various nationalities. in 2004 koselleck introduced his band in the dutch jazz scene during an evening concert at the bim huis. this special night was attended by jazz prominents such as henk meurtgeert and eric van lier who highly valued the band’s quality and performance. it inspired koselleck to continue composing and arranging new big band repertoire showing a great sense of originality and creativity according to peter herbolzheimer, one of the most recognized european big band composers. the konrad koselleck big band recently started to challenge ‘big band tradition’ through cross over arrangements unifying traditional jazz feel and today’s pop- dance and rock music. in 2005 the band did feature music and film star ellen ten damme in a series of concerts covering jazz and german rock music. for this special ade event konrad produces together with the famous dutch producer kareem raïhani. the special guest for the night will be announced in the bimhuis leaflet and the sugar- bimhuis booklet.

born and living in 2 different cultures (morrocan / dutch), kareem raïhani is always about bringing worlds together. modern technology and openness towards music are the tools for him to do so. house, hiphop, tech, world, (nu)disco, acid, (nu)jazz, soul, funk, electronic and so on, for kareem no sound or style is excluded. in this program, kareem, together with konrad konselleck, will melt the worlds of dance, world music and a big band!

easy aloha’s (dox records, nl)

easy aloha’s present a new soundtrack for the film playtime (jacques tati, 1968)

rocket cinema

rocket cinema is an amsterdam-based organisation specialising in film/music events. the idea behind rocket cinema came from a love of classic films and the realisation that many of these films are rarely shown in public. rocket cinema invites djs and musicians to make a new soundtrack for old films, thereby attracting a new audience into the world of classic films. it’s a sort of ‘pimp my film’ – in a musical sense – and it works!

the aim of the rocket cinema festival is to bring together the best international examples of current film/music collaborations and to re-stage some of our own successful projects in a festival spanning over 5 days in over 6 different venues in the heart of amsterdam

19.00 - 22.00 dinner

diner area
19.00 - 22.00 live: lex empress & joost swart (nl)
lex empress is very well known in holland as mc-vocalist at house events like hed kandi or extrema & loveland festival. that she is a great performing artist in the jazz scene is not so known by many: over 25 sold out theatre shows in 2006 with interpretationzz as leading jazz singer. this evening expect something complete different: exotic brazilian songs by vocalist lex empress and fender rhodes player joost swart. her life experiences in rio de janeiro, but also bali, italy & spain will show her talent as she sings all languages fluently!

19.00 - 22.00 live: dj’s monte la rue & cinema royale ft. vika kova
monte la rue has been nicknamed the lounge king of the lowlands. the belgian dj/producer, currently holding residence in amsterdam, has issued a firm statement with a range of over 25 ‘relaxed’ compilations, all of them oozing with excellence and diversity. the unique concept cinema royale is built on passion and great expertise in sound tracks together with the fact that movie scores are specifically created for expressing moods and vibes. mc –vocalist vika kova and maybe even a special musician will join the dj-sets in their own unique way.

19.00 - 22.00 live: adani & wolf soundsystem
apart from playing on festivals and in clubs with their ‘regular’ band, adani & wolf also perform on stages around the world with a more dj-like configuration. they did this in rio de janeiro, amsterdam, sofia, ibiza, etc. adani & wolf themselves take place behind the turntables but will also now and than grab an instrument when they feel like it and the music asks for it. in this set they will play a coherent but wide range of different music styles: from swinging brazilian grooves and songs to steaming seventies jazzfunk and soul. from groovy afrobeats to great uptempo jazzy 2006 chilltunes. this energetic music combined with the intensity and drive of the musicians: a certain guarantee for a hot dancefloor!

19.00 - 22.00 live: anicha featuring simon vantirum & terence samson
belly dancer and show performer anicha will represent the eastern vibes of this evening. her world experience of traveling brought her cultural and musical knowledge which she will show tonight with the fascinating travel of the gypsies from india through the arabic countries, ending in spain. assisted by terence on a wide variation of original percussion instruments from those countries and simon with his great greek percussion style on darbuka and flute.

22.00 - 05.00 party
club area
22.00 - 23.00 dj lady ace (electric city, nl)
with many years of international experience lady ace is one of those female jocks that you can't resist to smile at. her groovy and creative sets makes you dance the full live set away. her dj sets with live musicians are absolutely worth exploring. lady ace is a real talent scout! high fusion five and electrolive are successful examples. we look forward to see which talent she will present this night during her dj-set..

23.00 - 23.30 live: general electric paradise (nl)
roberto adani & daniël wolf came together in the late 90s to launch project 2000, an award-winning drum & bass-crossover band. six years later tracks of the album "its about time" are still being discovered through radio, tv series, commercials and compilations. in 2001 they produced "one day deep" together with multi instrumentalist praful and combined their jazzy vibes with world music extracts from brazil and india. like its creators the music travelled throughout the world to become a ‘billboard best selling album’ reaching the top 10 in the american contemporary jazz chart in 2004. the single “sigh” became a solid #1 hit on us jazz radio. besides their own project of adani & wolf (2 albums in 2004/2005) with performances at java jazz festival in 2006, they will now launch something completely different you don’t wanna miss! from the house of adani & wolf: the first official gig of general electric paradise: 3 great musicians and 1 singer live on stage. album out in 2007.

23:30 - 00:15 mc/live: vika kova presents master of ceremony (ru/ua, nl)
based on rich experience, working on the best parties around the world, mc vika kova knows by now what music is going to hit the crowd. that's what makes vika kova’s “master of ceremony" live act unique. the mc now decides what kind of music is going to be played! that will be a great mixture of biggest club hits and hottest upcoming tracks - the best of dance music. at the same time vika kova sings, hosts, dances and interacts with the people in the audience, giving them energy and becoming friends with them. she presents dj house arts on decks and keyboards, ilyeah! on guitar and rachel grace on violin.

00.15 - 00.30 dj lady ace (electric city, nl)

00.30 - 01.15 live: mason & the maker (middle of the road/great stuff recordings, nl)
for quite a while mason is resident dj on the infamous electronation events. after 10 years of dj-ing mason started to play live on stage with his musical partner coen berrier as mason & the maker. they could have been seen on dancevalley and rockit open air this summer. their electro house hit exceeder was picked up by almost every single international dj who flirt with electro, from john digweed and dave seaman to roger sanchez and david guetta. not at least to mention fatboy slim and tiga. the follow up big boy exercise and the screetch will be out as we speak.

01.15 - 02.15 dj prinz (color recordings, b)

prinz started his dj career at café d’ anvers and has been shaking up dance floors for the last eight years around europe. his colourful style, positive energy and real house music have caught the ears and hearts of party people and have taken him to moscow, paris, madrid, barcelona, miami, ibiza, amsterdam and many other places where the party is going on, and on, and on… his musical activities have also extended successfully to producing music for a number of labels strike rec., colors rec., piglife rec, la belle noir records. his tracks have been included in compilations of both supperclub and café d’ anvers, moscou trip (mdma) amongst others.

02.15 - 03.00 live: the go go prophecy (b/nl)
boys and their toys...making poppy electro songs...computer, synths, guitars and vocals...the distorted sound of europe...if the prophecy comes true, these are new anthems for the youngsters of the 21st century...the go go prophecy boast a huge marriage of beats and frenzied guitars with catchy vocals.

03.00 - 05.00 dj’s hermanos inglesos (culture club, b)
with a moniker like hermanos inglesos one could scure himself a lucrative future as part of a columbian smuggling cartel or some cheesy anglo-american mariachi act. nevertheless, the real life of brothers cedric and didier engels (engels being the dutch word for english, hence hermanos inglesos = english brothers, comprende?) are none of the above. they feel best at home behind two turntables and a mixing deck, preferably in front of a frantic crowd, hungry for good times and exciting tunes. the belgian siblings are not only united in blood but also in taste for music like irony never happened.

live: bruno pronsato (telegraph/orac, us)

bruno pronsato (aka steven ford) has been subverting expectations within techno’s upper echelons since 2003-but the seattle producer took a circuitous path to reach his current lofty status. a former speed-metal drummer with a serious appreciation for 12-tone composers, pronsato began creating electronic music in 1999 under the moniker bobby karate. his sole album in that guise-2003’s hot trips, cold returns-mutated microsound into a cornucopia of fascinating shapes. however, later that year, ford transferred his acumen for advanced tone-bending into the experimental-techno realm, as evidenced by pronsato’s debut 12”, read_me (for the kompakt-distributed orac records). pronsato followed that with the acclaimed full-length silver cities (orac), a phenomenal derangement of dance-music tropes and an ear-tricking delight on headphones. stellar reviews in xlr8r, the wire, the stranger, and various european zines led to interest from elite labels worldwide, including canada’s musique risquee, which issued the ape masquerade ep in 2005. a powerful, exciting set at montreal’s 2005 mutek festival has furthered pronsato’s ascendancy within avant-techno circles and has resulted in bookings at prestigious clubs in europe, the united states, and south america.

welcome to the future is the name of the party on saturday. special guest is michel de hey, one of the biggest names in the international techno scene. on this night he will show us a preview of the area he will host at innercity in december: ‘recorded in rotterdam.”

michel de hey recently released the excellent mic album ‘released in rotterdam’. a great way of showing original dutch electronic music. the album features only dutch productions, like dexter, aardvarck, 2000 and one, shinedoe, steve rachmad, joris voorn, secret cinema, and – of course – work from the master-dj hemzelf.

‘recorded in rotterdam’ is a cd which reminds you again how much music of great quality is made in the netherlands at the moment, ranging from futuristic techno and tech-house to minimal, electro, classic- and deep house.

that is the reason that welcome to the future proudly presents ‘recorded in rotterdam – live in amsterdam’.

in this xxl-edition (23.00-06.00), michel de hey will play a royal 3 hour long set himself. other dj’s and producers from his album will also play sets, including warren fellow, aardvarck and dexter
