Neither ambient nor chill out but maybe both styles at the same. This new album from well known Anthony Rother is a truly UFO on German's discography and will obviously surprise more than it could disappoint fans of the master that might have expected Psi49net label owner in a long electro format. Moreover, this new opus is a pure jewel and this is not the first time that Frankfort based artist tries to explore this genre. Didn't he launch into a similar style with "Art Is A Division Of Pain LP" on Kanzleramt before striking back with its famous anticipated electro thanks to "Electro Pop" and "Hacker"? Perfect follow up to its album written under Psi Performer moniker in the year 2001, present CD declines in ten tracks more than one hour of captivating, linked, dark, experimental (track 5) and monotone music, alternating false rests and minimalist atmospheres, a touch of rhythm coming from here to there to enhance a melancholic purpose. A kind of spatial travel and a movie soundtrack neither Lynch (track 3) nor Vangelis (track 8) would disown, "Elixir Of Life" accedes to masterpiece status.
